Hot tub rules in Tecumseh

Every municipality sets its own rules for hot tubs. This is what the Town of Tecumseh publishes:

Tecumseh’s Fence By-law 2003-57 sets rules for swimming pool fences but does not mention hot tubs or covers.
The Town’s building permits page lists pools as needing a permit and does not mention hot tubs.
Because the Town’s published rules are silent, call Building Services at 519-735-2184 before you install.

The cover that comes with an Arctic Spa is rigid, locks, and meets ASTM Standard F1346-91 — the safety-cover standard several Ontario municipalities name. Ask your showroom for the cover’s specifications if your municipality wants them with a permit application.

Separately, anywhere in Ontario: electrical work you hire out must be done by a Licensed Electrical Contractor, who files the notification of work with the Electrical Safety Authority. Every spa needs a GFCI breaker. See our site preparation guide for the electrical supply each spa needs.
